Graphical Controls, Inc. was founded and incorporated in 1998 by Joe E. Sardina in Tampa, Florida.
Its name was derived from the main function of the company which is monitoring
and controlling an industrial environment via a computer generated, graphical representation of the mechanism being controlled.
You can visualize the industrial environment as being a living object made up of several
components.
-
Mechanical structure is the skeleton that holds the body together.
-
Motors are the muscle that creates movement.
-
The wires act as the nerves carrying electrical signals that cause action to take
place.
-
Sensors act as the eyes of the system passing process status information. With these four systems we have a structure capable of doing work. However, we are
missing the most important part of the whole body. We need something that coordinates the
movements and actions that the system undertakes for proper function.
-
The Central Processing Unit acts as the BRAIN of the structure. In the industrial
world this is referred to as the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) or simply as the
CPU of a Distributed Control System (DCS).
With proper instructions (programming) the brain will bring the machine to life and function
as designed by the engineers. Most of the time, however, the humans need to communicate
with the machine in order to change its behavior or take control of its movements. This
takes us to the last component of our living object.
-
Human Translator. On simple small systems this may be accomplished by buttons,
lights, and switches. However, in larger more complex machines, a computer is
used as a Human to Machine Interface (HMI).
At Graphical Controls, Inc. we take pride in being the industrial doctor that you can rely on.
The highest priority of the company is customer satisfaction. You can trust us to design,
manufacture, program, and install the best control system possible for your application.
